connecting you to trusted psychotherapy in Swansea bay

Welcome to Swansea Psychotherapy Partnership

We are a growing group of psychotherapists working together to improve access to safe, accredited psychotherapy and counselling in Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot and Llanelli as well as online.

We know that it can be hard to know where to find a good trusted psychotherapist and are here to make it easier for you to take the first steps to find the right psychotherapist for you.

As well as checking training, experience and accreditation you will want to find a psychotherapist you connect with and who helps you to feel safe, heard and understood. Research suggests that a good relationship between psychotherapist and client is vital for successful therapy.

We work with trainees working on the Affordable Therapy Service (link to about us section on affordable therapy) run by the Welsh Psychotherapy Institute to offer some sessions on an affordable basis. All our psychotherapists will offer some lower cost therapy too.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a form of counselling which can support you to work through challenging times in your life in a way which can bring deep insight and sustainable improvements to your mental health. It can be a powerful and life changing experience.

Research shows that psychotherapy is effective at working with a wide range of issues from trauma, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, personality disorders, substance abuse, bereavement eating disorders and more.

Safe, accredited, psychotherapy

Psychotherapists working with SPP are either accredited members of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) or trainees working towards accreditation.

All therapists have completed or are completing a masters level, experiential training, including over 180 hours of their own psychotherapy. Having been a client and worked on our own issues allows us to work with you in depth with the highest level of empathy.

Our core therapists have all completed, or are undergoing advanced training in working with trauma.

Contemporary, relational approach

Whilst each therapists style will be unique there are certain things that we all have in common.

We all offer a therapeutic relationship based on a contemporary, relational approach to psychotherapy which is informed by research, neuroscience and contemporary trauma theory.
